Q&A

Continued...dun dun duuuuun!!!

WHAT IS YOUR CURRENT JOB AND DO YOU LIKE IT?

A: I love my job! It is perfect for me right now! I work for The Dibble Institute. We create relationship education materials for youth and young adults. We have programs that range from relationship smarts to money smarts, to mental health, and trauma and resilience programs. I get to work with the training team, so we go through the material with facilitators and teachers on an almost weekly basis. And did I mention that I work remotely?!? It is so perfect for our family at this stage of life, and I would NEVER have imagined having a job like this out of college. It's a dream come true for me. <3

J: I supervise the teaching of computer skills and programs for older adults who are preparing to serve as missionaries for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I have really enjoyed my time here. I originally started as a teacher and now am the department supervisor. This job has really helped me develop personally and has provided for our family through some tough times. I am definitely grateful to be where I am.

WHAT IS SOMETHING ON YOUR BUCKET LIST?

A: Doing the splits is on my bucket list....though that's getting more unlikely with every year that passes...!

Actually, When I was about 6, I wrote in a journal that I wanted to adopt someday. Little did I know where I would find myself almost 2 decades later. It's kind of a bitter-sweet feeling looking back on that. <3

J: I would love to go backpacking in New Zealand! Oh, and to learn how to play the ocarina "jaw dropping-ly well!"

DO YOU CONSIDER YOURSELF AN INTROVERT OR AN EXTROVERT?

A: Omnivert? Is that cheating? XD I get tons of energy when I'm around people I'm comfortable with. I even really enjoy large gatherings, but I have to have my one person I know I can stick with the whole time. You'll also probably most often find me at home hanging with just my husband in the evening working on who knows what crazy project I've dreamed up!

J: I don't know! An extroverted introvert? (Just saw Ashley's answer above...I guess we're a good match!)

WHAT'S YOUR MOST PRIZED POSSESSION? WHY?

A: My journals. I have YEARS of memories and experiences recorded in my journals. I love looking back on them and want to share them with my children someday.

J: My wife. :) Wait! That sounds really bad! She's not my possession! (Though I do treasure her the very most!) Probably...my musical instruments!

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE FAMILY TRADITION?

A: I have two! On Christmas Eve, after we've opened Christmas Pajamas, we have a "Birthday Party for Jesus." We blow out candles on cupcakes and then give "gifts" to Jesus in the form of goals for the year (think New Years Resolutions).

The other is a birthday tradition that started sometime in my early-teen years. Basically, we all go outside to the most open space available with a three-man slingshot...and dozens of cupcakes! We then proceed to LAUNCH the cupcakes as far as we can out of the slingshot (often eating the valuable frosting off before, of course...)!! It's just ridiculous and so much fun!

J: Family vacation! Summer family vacations with extended family! Growing up, we would go to Newport, CA every summer. While location and structure have changed over the years as we've added nieces and nephews to the mix, summer vacation with our extended family is still probably my favorite tradition.

WHAT IS ONE OF YOUR PET PEEVES?

A: Wet grass stuck to my feet. Gak! Nuff said!

J: Lights on in the room after I've fallen asleep!
